MISSION AND PRIMARY GOAL
Friends of Del Rio
Animals (FDRA) is a 501(c)3 organization committed to bettering the lives
of animals in the community. Its mission is to find homes for abandoned
and homeless pets, to encourage the neutering and spaying of dogs and cats,
and to educate people on proper care and treatment of their animals.
Our community is in desperate need of an animal rescue facility. Currently many stray animals are euthanized.
With the help and combined efforts of local businesses, individuals, and
FDRA, we hope to build an animal rescue shelter.
WHO PAYS FOR ALL THIS?
Our organization
sponsors a number of special events each year such as Pet Fest, Mutt Strutt,
a Hamburger Basket Sale, and Paws on the Patio. In addition, many local
businesses have been generous with support of goods and services, and with
matching funds programs. We hope to expand our fundraising program in
the coming year with a goal of doubling the special event program and securing
additional commitments from the business community.
We rely
heavily on the generosity of the people in the area. Much of our success
is attributed to a healthy donor base. Our members
and friends spend hundreds of volunteer hours each year to make our goals
a reality. find out what you can do...
We would
like to have the support of both the county and the city. We also are pursuing
funding from granting agencies such as United Way, Wal-Mart, the U.S. Department
of Agriculture, and various humane organizations. We are in the planing stages of a Memorial Program
